Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging
Vascular LabUltrasound imaging performed in the vascular lab is done to examine the veins and arteries within the body.These exams can be used to identify disease in the blood vessels or to check for patency of vessels needed for open-heart surgery or other types of vascular surgeries. You will be asked to lie on the vascular table. The vascular technologist will place warm scan gel on the area that is being imaged and then the transducer is then placed onto the gel, against your skin. You will feel pressure as the vascular technologist moves the transducer over your skin. This test can take up to an hour. A radiologist or physician will interpret the images and a report will be sent to your doctor. Call (610) 402-TEST (8378) to schedule for this exam. Arterial DopplerAn arterial doppler is a non-invasive ultrasound technique performed to look for plaque, decreased flow, and blockages in the arteries of the arms and legs. Carotid DuplexA carotid duplex is a non-invasive ultrasound technique performed to look for plague, decreased flow, and blockages in the carotid and vertebral arteries (blood vessels of the neck). Transcranial DopplerTCD is a non-invasive ultrasound technology used to evaluate blood flow velocity in the major intracranial arteries. Velocities from the cerebral arteries, internal carotids, opthalmic, basilar and vertebral arteries are sampled.
